US Virgin Islands
Introduction | Attractions and Activities | Travel Basics
The U.S. Virgin Islands offer diversity as both vacation and business opportunity locations. If you're traveling, lodging can range from quaint inns and bed and breakfasts to luxurious private oceanfront villas or large Caribbean casino resorts. There are many water and outdoor activities such as snorkeling, chartering a boat, hiking, kayaking, parasailing, scuba diving, or just soaking up the sun. In addition, the romantic settings with incredible sunsets, and warm breezes make it an incredible place for weddings, honeymoons and anniversaries.
The three islands and 60-odd cays that comprise the US Virgin Islands include some of the most magnificent coast on earth and provide a taste of paradise and a bit of light relief to millions each year. The largest of the U.S. Virgins, St. Croix has a remarkably diverse and beautiful landscape ranging from a lush tropical rainforest to desert vegetation. This island has an incredible European history. Wonderful architecture, ruins, and museums can be found throughout the Historic District. Buck Island Reef, duty free shopping, world famous beaches, and delightful restaurants are also favorites of the visitors. St. John is the smallest and remains the most non-commercial and low key of the islands. Two thirds of St. John is a U.S. National Park, and here you see what the world is like when nature takes care of itself. Even though it is only 28 square miles in size, many say it is the loveliest. This tiny island is only accessible by boat or ferry. St. Thomas has busy ports with an abundance of duty-free shops, historic buildings, waterfront views and some of the best beaches in the West Indies. On St. Thomas you will find everything from premiere hotels and quaint guesthouses to one-of-a-kind watering holes and fine dining restaurants featuring international cuisine. St. Thomas also has a spectacular 18-hole golf course, a marine park, several tennis facilities, boats for charter, and even a bowling center. Historical sites are plentiful, too. Water Island offers seclusion, privacy, peace and quiet, but with easy access to St. Thomas. Called "Last of the Virgins" it's so secret that some official maps don't include it. The US Virgin Islands is a vacation paradise. From the white sand beaches to the green hills and rainforest there is sure to be something to please everyone. |
